ShAFF Highline
It was quite interesting for me to see the general public view of what we do. I guess it’s similar with all adventure sports - most people just think we are mad. I have been branded as a daredevil and called spiderwoman (I'll forget about the tightrope walker bit), but I really do want people to understand that it’s not all fearless people seeking adrenaline. It's about focus, persistence, growth as a person and getting out of one’s own comfort zone. I feel that the mindset needed is very similar to other adventure sports and these are the people who I am actually interesting in inspiring. If highlining does appeal to you then come join us. We will welcome you with open arms and are always happy to give advice. The most important thing is that we keep highling safe. Although we talk about highlining being safe, it does have the potential to be extremely dangerous if the lines are not rigged correctly, so the highline community tries extremely hard to pass on knowledge. If you do want to try, do it with experienced people! There is some more information on how to get into slacklining in the UK in the interview I did with Sarah Sterling here. Also anyone is welcome to contact me.
Finally just for me to keep track here is some of the media footage of the higline;
